कद ध नूनं कधप्रियः पिता पुत्रं न हस्तयोः |

English:- WHAT now? When will ye take us by both hands, as a dear sire his son,
Gods, for whom sacred grass is clipped?

कव नूनं कद वो अर्थं गन्ता दिवो न पर्थिव्याः |
कव वो गावो न रण्यन्ति
English:- Now whither? To what goal of yours go ye in heaven, and not on earth?

कव वः सुम्ना नव्यांसि मरुतः कव सुविता |
कव विश्वानि सौभगा
English:- Where are your newest favours shown? Where, Maruts, your prosperity?

यद यूयम पर्श्निमातरो मर्तासः सयातन |
सतोता वो अम्र्तः सयात
English:- If, O ye Maruts, ye the Sons whom Pṛśni bore, were mortal, and

पथा यमस्य गाद उप
English:- Then never were your praiser loathed like a wild beast in pasture-land,

पदीष्ट तर्ष्णया सह
English:- Let not destructive plague on plague hard to be conquered, strike its down:

मिहं कर्ण्वन्त्य अवाताम
English:- Truly, they the fierce and mighty Sons of Rudra send their windless

वाश्रेव विद्युन मिमाति वत्सं न माता सिषक्ति |
यद एषां वर्ष्टिर असर्जि
English:- Like a cow the lightning lows and follows, motherlike, her youngling,
When their rain-flood hath been loosened.

दिवा चित तमः कर्ण्वन्ति पर्जन्येनोदवाहेन |
यत पर्थिवीं वयुन्दन्ति
English:- When they inundate the earth they spread forth darkness e'en in day time,
With the water-laden rain-cloud.

अध सवनान मरुतां विश्वम आ सद्म पार्थिवम |
अरेजन्त पर मानुषाः
English:- O Maruts, at your voice's sound this earthly habitation shakes,
And each man reels who dwells therein.

मरुतो वीळुपाणिभिश चित्रा रोधस्वतीर अनु |
यातेम अखिद्रयामभिः
English:- O Maruts, with your strong-hoofed steeds, unhindered in their courses, haste

सुसंस्क्र्ता अभीशवः
English:- Firm be the fellies of your wheels, steady your horses and your cars,
And may your reins be fashioned well.

अछा वदा तना गिरा जरायै बरह्मणस पतिम |
अग्निम मित्रं न दर्शतम
English:- Invite thou hither with this song, for praise, Agni the Lord of Prayer,
Him who is fair as Mitra is.

मिमीहि शलोकम आस्यपर्जन्य इव ततनः |
गाय गायत्रम उक्थ्यम
English:- Form in thy mouth the hymn of praise expand thee like, a rainy cloud

English:- Sing glory to the Marut host, praiseworthy, tuneful, vigorous:
